ClarOscuro "Chiaroscuro/clair-obscur: -the treatment of light and shade in drawing and painting. -the use of deep variations in and subtle gradations of light and shade, especially to enhance the delineation of character and for general dramatic effect." Tranpose this definition to a musical context and you get a clear idea of the nature of our band. Add to that an interest in ornithology, a classical sensibility and a late-romantic urge for expression, mixed through a jazz dynamic and some Latin-American flavor, and you’ve got yourself a whole new musical trip. The unique combination of instruments and styles employed by these four musical alchemists makes for a very unique sound and vibe, familiar and soothing yet always original and tantalizing. The sensitivity and dynamic of the violin mixed with the many colours of the electric guitar; floating over the patterns and shapes created by percussion and double bass or by folkloric instruments such as the vihuela or guitarron: sometimes creating fiery grooves, other times resulting in carefully layered soundscapes and fragile melodies. And so the muse Erato created ClarOscuro, bringing together four multi-instrumentalists with very different musical backgrounds. Open your mind for a wondrous combination of genres, instruments, moods and timbres. We cordially invite you to come and sail the unending oceans of infinite sounds with us – we’ll make sure you get back.
