LOW HILL Meet: Laurens Vanhulle. From their attic-studio this self-taught producer, singer/songsmith and soundscape artist, gives life to a unique cinematic and melancholic universe. Combining classical songwriting with experimental/ambient electronics, Low Hill composes music that breathes emotive melodies that are both threatening and enchanting. Or as Vanhulle puts it: 'If I were to describe what I do, I would call it dark yet vivid electronic neo-soul'.

Vanhulle started as a composer for theater, dance and film. As a performer they made their stage debut as the official support of Stijn at Het Entrepot in Bruges, where at the time Vanhulle was artist in residence

It was when an early Low Hill demotape caught the attention of David Martijn (Goose)that things started falling into place. David introduced Vanhulle to Benjamin Desmet (SX), and the two have for a long time combined forces to construe the typical fingerprint sound that is characteristic of Low Hill.

After playing support-acts for artists like Willies Earl Beal, SX, Daan, an honest unplugged television appearance and several great collaborations Laurens headed back to the drawing board to create a more personal universe that might be dark and volatile, but with passion lurking to be uncovered.
