JUNE11 is a Belgian studio project set up by Jan Van den Broeke (previously involved in The Misz & Absent Music) involving numerous collaborators.

JUNE11 released 2 albums so far: MATTER IS ALIVE (2008) and THE TEMPLE OF WOOD (2011).

Both albums are conceived as homogeneous collections of soft, almost chill-out compositions, where melody, experimentation, (both acoustic and electronic) instrumentation and vocalisation meet in a sound film.

In 2017, STROOM released the '11000 DREAMS' retrospective album, combining the different projects of Jan Van den Broeke on 1 album.

JUNE11 could have been influenced by the works of Gustav Mahler, Brian Eno, Harold Budd, Daniël Lanois, Leonard Cohen, Billie Holiday, Abbey Lincoln, Anouar Brahem, Buddha chants, Marthe Wéry, Donald Judd, Ken Loach, Wim Wenders, Robert Rauschenberg, Mark Rothko, Alvar Aalto, the early Mondriaan….

But most of all: by the longing to be silent and speak at the same time, quit the crazy scene, renunciate, find emptiness, find justice, find beauty, dissolve in the moment...

Collaborators include: Drita Kotaji (singer of the 80s cultband Bernthøler), Nadine Bal (BeNe GeSSeRiT), Mirco Waem (on piano), Mieke Versyp (vocal), Miguel Frasca (bandoneon), Stefan Thaens (clarinet and saxophone), Philippe Van Keymeulen (saxes)...

JUNE11 is now working on a 3rd album, TBA 2021.
